Acupuncture:
Back pain can be a debilitating condition, stopping all normal daily activities and possibly having to rely on strong pain killers just to get through the day. The good news is acupuncture can be very effective in resolving back pain, both acute and chronic conditions.
Since I’ve been in practice I’ve treated many people for back and sciatic pain, with many good results. Many of these people are now free from pain or the pain has been dramatically reduced.
It would be normal practice to have 3-4 treatments initially to obtain the full benefit from acupuncture. How ever I would normally recommend a course of six treatments to gain maximum results.
Please see the ‘Special Offers’ page for a discount on a block of six treatments.
Other modalities may also be used within the scope of traditional acupuncture, such as cupping, moxibustion, heat therapy and electro-acupuncture. Please see the ‘Acupuncture’ for more information about these therapies.
Sports Massage:
Sports massage can be very beneficial for back pain. A majority of back pain is caused by tight muscles in the back that often go into spasm. There can be many reasons for this; poor posture over time that puts strain on the back, lifting something heavy, playing sport, sleeping awkwardly, over doing it at the gym or getting a chill in your muscles may all contribute.
Sports massage works on the soft tissues of the body; muscles, ligaments and tendons and helps to free up tension in these soft tissues, promote circulation of blood and help remove waste products in the muscles. Sports massage can also be a very good treatment for the prevention and maintenance of back pain and sciatica.
